General Reference: Finding Articles

This guide provides an overview of Lindenwood Library resources covering general reference materials, internet resources, and basic search tips.

Searching - Overview

Using a multi-disciplinary database or general reference resource is a great way to learn background information about your topic. Once you have a solid grounding on your topic, you'll want to locate more specific journal articles or even a book or two on your topic.

Research Tip:

While multi-disciplinary databases are a great starting point, when you want to dig deeper for more specific information, you'll want to search subject specific databases.

Lindenwood Library subscribes to a number of such databases. These can be accessed from the databases page.

How is Google Scholar different from Google?

Google Scholar attempts to provide access only to scholarly resources, including books, articles from scholarly journals, technical reports and abstracts, across a wide range of disciplines.

Research Tip:

Not all resources located in Google Scholar will provide access to full text. If you locate a resource you need in Google Scholar, but do not have access to the text, try our databases, or request it through interlibrary loan.
