This guide provides an overview of Lindenwood Library resources covering general reference materials, internet resources, and basic search tips.

Website Evaluation

Authority

  • Is there an author?
  • Is there information about the author or sponsoring information?
  • What is the domain? (.com= commercial, .gov=government, .org=nonprofit organization, .edu=educational institution)

Accuracy

  • How does the information compare to information from other sources?
  • Is the text grammatically correct?
  • Are there spelling errors?

Currency

  • Is the date of creation or last update given?
  • Are the links active?

Content

  • What is the purpose of the site? Can you tell?

Objectivity

  • If the site deals with controversial issues, is the viewpoint clearly stated?
  • Does the website off any indications of biases?
