LARC - Media & Gaming Lab: Policies

Media & Gaming Lab Policies

NOTE: For Gaming policies, see our Gaming research guide.

The Media & Gaming Lab of the Library serves the media needs of Lindenwood University, with the goal of supporting University courses and curriculum, any requested needs made by other groups on campus, and extracurricular needs that support the enrichment of campus culture.

The Media & Gaming Lab assists with the creation of audio or visual materials by faculty, staff, or students. The Media & Gaming Lab also maintains a collection of educational and popular videos, as well as video games, for curricular use with University courses, as well as for faculty, staff, and student extracurricular needs on campus. These materials are available for use within the Media & Gaming Lab’s facility and may be borrowed by any faculty, staff, and students for use elsewhere.

Lab Usage

Software Priority: Much of the software in this lab is only available in two or three small labs on campus. With this being the case, it is the policy of the Media & Gaming Lab that if a student requires use of the specialized software in the lab and the lab is full, students utilizing the lab for access to the MS Office suite of software will be asked by library staff to move to a different lab.

AV Edit Room Scheduling: Each AV Edit Room may be scheduled a maximum of 4 hours per day by an individual student, staff or faculty member. Each reservation is a minimum of 1 hour long and can be extended up to three additional hours to a total of 4 hours. Multiple appointments may be scheduled but can total no more than 4 hours for a single day.

Copyright Law: It is the policy of the Media & Gaming Lab to abide by the United States copyright law and regulations. Services will be refused to those students who make requests which conflict with current copyright law.

Food, Drink, and Other Belongings: No food is allowed in the Media & Gaming Lab. Drinks are permitted in a securely-sealed container. Please take all trash and belongings with you when leaving the Media & Gaming Lab. Any belongings left in the Media & Gaming Lab will be placed in the Lost & Found at the Media & Gaming Lab front desk or the Circulation desk on the Main level.

Use the Media & Gaming Lab Courteously: Please be courteous to others in the Media & Gaming Lab. Refrain from excessive profanity and noise levels, disturbing other users while they are working, or trying to rush someone into vacating a station. Users who demonstrate repeated problem behavior will be asked to leave.

Donations Policies

Game Collections (video and board/card games):

Video games for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch systems are being accepted. Board and card game donations are also being accepted, with the exception of playing cards.

Additionally, the Media & Gaming Lab is considering expanding the Vintage Games collection to include older console systems. Please contact Michael Fetters if you have any vintage games to donate.

Technology:

The Media & Gaming Lab is open to donations of new or current technology, provided it is in new or very good condition and there is a demonstrable need for the technology on campus. Please contact Michael Fetters if you have any questions.
